Happy Birthday Becca

Dear Becca,

Happy birthday! We all miss you so much. I struggle to put down words that capture how much I love you and what you mean to me and the kids. You are the center of our home and everything we do. We will never forget you and we will live our lives to honor you. That is the only gift left we can try to give you.

As I look through old pictures of you I can’t stop thinking about how beautiful you are. Since it’s your birthday, I thought I’d share a couple birthday memories from most recent to the earliest.

Last year… you wanted a weekend away, but not too far away so we ended up in SLC. The highlight was sitting by the pool talking for hours. So fun spending time with you and talking. You have always been my best friend and we’ve never run out of things to talk about. Little did I know it would be the last birthday of yours we’d spend together. Glad we made a big deal of it 🙂

Throwing it way back to your first birthday that we hung out together… in 1994 we had a blast at Kings Dominion on Memorial day when you turned 15. We had a so much fun going on rides and spending the day together — enjoying the beginning of a summer where we really fell in love. Clearly I was hilarious. And a giant. Anyway, that day is one of my favorite memories.

We have so many memories together and I am grateful for the many birthdays in between. I really hope you had a great one up in Heaven. I’ve got to imagine they know how to throw a good party and with all the relatives and friends you have up there you could have had a great dance party. Take care babe, love you so much. Happy 37th.

    1. Love you Andrew. Nothing makes me happier than to know how happy you make my sweet daughter. Don’t know if the hurt ever will go away, but the biggest comfort is that she lived such a full life with you and the kids by her side. I miss her so much but I’m so grateful for her happy life. That picture reflects so perfectly her love of life. Thank you for sharing this.

    1. This is the first I am seeing your letter. It is beautiful. I could never think of kings dominion without thinking of you and Becca. It was never separate, it was always “BeccaAndrew are here now” “meet BeccaAndrew over there”. You didn’t get near enough birthdays together, but at least you got a head start. Not many people can find their person-that-makes-their-single-name-into-a-compound-word at such a young age. She is beautiful and that beauty shone through her whole life. And will never stop.

    1. This is awesome. Thank you for writing. It’s magical you both were together from such a young age.
